A test version of the GPU sieving application is now available for Apple silicon Macs (M1 and newer). The cuda-sieve code has been ported to Apple’s Metal GPU API, allowing the integrated GPUs in Apple M-series processors to participate in the sieving work.<br />
<br />
This is a new port and has had relatively limited testing, so additional testing across the different generations of Apple silicon would be very helpful. If you have an M1, M2, M3, M4, or newer Mac, please give it a try and let us know how it performs.

Work has progressed nicely on the GPU sieving apps based on cuda-sieve. Linux and Windows apps are now available for NVIDIA GPUs, with support extended to Maxwell (such as the GTX 970) and newer GPUs with at least 4 GB of GPU memory.<br />

For AMD, the code has been ported using HIP, and a Windows app is now available supporting all RDNA-based GPUs (Radeon RX 5000 series and newer) with at least 4 GB of GPU memory.<br />

After careful consideration, I have decided to shut down the LODA BOINC project.<br />
<br />
When LODA BOINC started, distributed computing was an effective way to search for new LODA programs and mathematical solutions. Recent advances in AI have changed this significantly, and AI-based approaches are now becoming much more effective for this kind of program and formula discovery.<br />
<br />
Therefore, I believe it is time to bring the LODA BOINC project to an end. I would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed computing power and supported LODA BOINC over the years. Your contributions have been greatly appreciated. The LODA programs and results will remain available on GitHub, so the work produced by the project will continue to be accessible.<br />

For the past few days a protection module on our web server was rejecting a large share of incoming requests. It affected not only the website, but also scheduler requests and result uploads, so many of you ran into failed uploads and reports, and pages that loaded only every other try.<br />
<br />
The cause has been identified and the module is now switched off. The website, the scheduler and the upload server are all responding normally again.<br />
<br />
There is nothing you need to do — the BOINC client retries uploads and reports on its own, so pending results should go through automatically. If a transfer stays stuck, "Retry now" on the Transfers tab will push it along.<br />
<br />
We are still working on what set this off in the first place: unusually heavy automated traffic on the project pages. Thank you for your patience.<br />

Cities are often warmer than their surroundings, especially at night, because buildings, roads and other urban surfaces store heat during the day and release it after sunset. Climate change will raise background temperatures, while the way cities grow may change where and how strongly heat is experienced. This project will examine five major cities, including London, New York City, Hong Kong, Mumbai and Lagos, to understand how future warming and urban development interact.<br />
<br />
Volunteers will run many high-resolution Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model simulations. The project will compare present-day conditions with a climate state around 2°C warmer than pre-industrial levels. Under the same future climate-change forcing, it will compare today’s urban form with contrasting development pathways described in policy documents; "compact" and "sprawling" pathways.<br />

WRF multicore long-running simulations; minimum of 4 cores. Typical run-times will be <b>~10+ days if 24/7</b> computing. Memory required: 6Gb. Client app_config.xml use is supported up to 8 cores max.<br />

Due to the long-running nature of these tasks, if you want to run them, please enable the 'WRF' option on your CPDN Project Preferences page on your CPDN account.<br />
<br />
Please ensure you have 'Leave non-GPU applications in memory whilst suspended' enabled. This prevents a restart from checkpoint files which is costly. <br />
